Why All The Hype??
Thursday, February 4th, 2010Seriously, I do not understand all the hype and hooplah over Danica Patrick. She isn’t the first woman to drive for NASCAR. She isn’t the first Indy driver to come over to NASCAR – hello? Tony Stewart jumped from Indy to NASCAR – heck he did the Indy 500 & a NASCAR race in the same day! Oh, that’s right. She’s the first woman to jump from Indy to NASCAR. Well, excuse me for saying, but whoop-de-do.
Why no, I am not a Danica Patrick fan, why do you ask? I’m sorry I just do not see the reason or point behind hyping up the fact that she’s coming to NASCAR. A woman Indy driver jumps to NASCAR. Whoopie. Oh, and it’s Danica Patrick. So? If it were any other female driver from Indy jumping over, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Nope, it’s a big deal because it’s DANICA. It’s a big deal because of WHO she is, not how good of a driver she is. In fact, she’s only won a single race in Indy, so to me, she’s not the greatest driver on the planet.
I hope that the hype blows over soon. I do hope she does well – if only because frankly, JR Motorsports needs to get something out of the deal. But I won’t be cheering for her. I don’t go for hype.
