Budweiser Shootout 2010

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Well, congrats to Kevin Harvick, winner of the 2010 Budweiser Shootout. This brings him to a state of back-to-back wins for the Shootout! Way to go Happy! :)

Tony finished 9th, which isn’t too bad – still in the top 10. Ryan was involved in the last wreck along with Kenseth, Edwards, Martin, Labonte, and Biffle. Apparently Gordon turned Biffle which started the wreck off. EEP!

I’m sorry to say that between eating dinner & taking the dog for a walk, I managed to miss a good portion of the Shootout – but I did follow on Twitter and I do know that Michael Waltrip went spinning/sliding/hitting the wall a couple of times, Kurt Busch went spinning/sliding through the grass, and of course, the big wreck happened.

I did see, however, when they needed the shark fin for Tony’s car and the crew member who went to fetch it got locked out – awesome job climbing the fence while still hanging on to the shark fin – and man can that dude who caught the fin and ran it back to the pit RUN. :D That was awesome! I can’t wait to see more action like that. (Note to Team Tony: Keep shark fins in pit box from now on.)

Sorry it’s a bit short, but that’s my report on the Bud Shootout. I will be watching the Duels Thursday night, so expect a report on that Thursday! :)

Drivers Test New Spoiler Package

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

On Tuesday, drivers participating in the Goodyear Tire Test at Texas Motor Speedway were given the opportunity to test the new spoiler package as well. Drivers Kurt Busch, Brian Vickers, Greg Biffle, and Tony Stewart tested the new spoiler package and gave their comments on it.

Stewart said that while it did make a balance change it wasn’t a big balance change. He explained there were two types of grip (aero – spoiler and mechanical – tires) and said that he was more of a mechanical grip kind of guy. The comments make me think he was all right with the new spoiler package.

Vickers said that the new spoiler package was good. Said it added some downforce to the front end and that it looked cooler – more retro looking – which he thought would make it more acceptable to the fans.

Biffle liked the way the car drove and handled with the new spoiler package. He said he’d like to be able to try it side by side with other drivers and see how it handles.

Busch also liked the way the car handled with the new spoiler and said that with the direction Goodyear wants to go with the tires this year, it could turn out to be a pretty nice package for the drivers.

Now of course, the new spoiler is not finalized yet and there will be more testing done in March with the new spoiler package.
